Marlene’s TeaCakes was founded by Marlene Spawton, a retired software engineer who turned her hobby into a business. Marlene always had a passion for baking, especially during the Christmas season, when she would transform normal cutout cookies into what she called her “pretty” cookies. In 2001 Marlene started her business with a simple mission: to provide elegant, custom-made cookies of the highest quality.
Marlene's TeaCakes creates distinctive custom decorated cookies for the most special occasions. Shortbread cookies are transformed into exquisitely elegant pieces of edible art. They are packaged with the same care and attention to detail. The highest quality cellophane is used to hand-wrap each cookie, resulting in an elegantly packaged gift that tastes as good as it looks!
Marlene's cookies are baked with only the finest ingredients. She uses a delicious secret fondant recipe to ice her cookies. This fondant icing, distinguishes their taste from other cookies. In most cases, Marlene uses royal icing for decoration only. Vanilla shortbread is the most requested flavor, but other flavors include chocolate and peanut butter.
Although Marlene’s TeaCakes specializes in custom-design cookies, certain signature cookies are available. These cookies are the most requested for particular occasions, such as baby showers, bridal showers, and national holidays. For custom-design cookies, most clients provide the image or a theme for Marlene to create the perfect party favor for the occasion. Customers may also request personalization to make each cookie the recipient’s very own, which makes the ultimate custom gift!
